Skopje, 1 February 2017 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski met Wednesday with the Russian Ambassador to Macedonia, Oleg Shcherbak.
The interlocutors, who met by an initiative of the Russian Ambassador, discussed the current political situation both in Macedonia and Russia.
"Concerning the current challenges for formation of a new government coalition, Gruevski said after the 20-day deadline was missed to form a government, the situation is ripe to organize new early elections so as to conclude the political crisis. It is apparent that a few of the parties in Macedonia have shown fear of new elections. However, VMRO-DPMNE, being the victor of the (December) elections, believes that the current party representation in Parliament - which clearly won't be able to lay down conditions for unhindered implementation of any program and for an end to the crisis - is all the more reason for holding new snap polls as soon as possible," VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release.
Discussing the developments that have left a mark during the political crisis, the Russian Ambassador said the Colorful Revolution 'has been detrimental to the economy in Macedonia spreading instability and uncertainty in the country, thus negatively impacting the interest of interested investors.'
The social and economic well-being of the citizens has suffered a blow in the countries where color revolutions had been organized, noted Shcherbak.
Also, talks focused on the global economic trends and the economic state in Macedonia and Russia, stated the press release. ba/18:04
