Defense Minister Jolevski visit United States

Skopje, 27 January 2015 (MIA) - Macedonian Defense Minister Zoran Jolevski is in the United States for a working visit, during which he is meeting with White House, Pentagon and State Department officials, as well as with military leaders. Defense Ministry informs that Jolevski also met with representatives of Washington based institutes and think-tanks.

During the meetings, Minister Jolevski spoke about the process of reforms in the Macedonian defense forces and reaffirmed the need for Macedonia to receive an invitation to join NATO. Jolevski underscored that in operations, such as the new large Resolute Support training mission to Afghanistan, Macedonia commits its support as if it was already a full member of NATO.

Defense Ministry informs that interlocutors in Washington expressed their support for the continued reforms of the Macedonian forces, that would increase the ability of the Army of Republic of Macedonia and continue to make it further interoperable with NATO member forces. Minister Jolevski also discussed exchange of cadets from the General Mihailo Apostolski Military Academy with some of the leading military academies in the United States.cc/11:40
