Stip, 7 October 2017 (MIA) - SDSM is not considering yet the prospect of demanding early parliamentary polls next spring unless it wins the October 15 local elections, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said Saturday in Stip.
In the eastern Macedonian city, Zaev was joined by SDSM's mayoral hopeful for Stip, Blagoj Bocvarski, to attend an open debate with the citizens as part of the election campaign.
"The local elections are quite important, because the municipalities with their jurisdiction can affect the everyday life of the citizens from various aspects... For us, it is important to wrap up the changes here. Stip is ready for changes," stated Zaev.
After the local elections, he added, decisions will be made, however Macedonia should move forward, deal with existing problems so as to maintain the perspective of the generations, present and future ones.
Following Skopje and Prilep, Stip is the first city in eastern Macedonia that is hosting a forum giving a platform to the citizens to debate with the mayors, the SDSM leader said.
"We are convinced Stip will experience a turning point... As an experienced mayor, who was at the helm for 12 years, I know how important is to have debates with the citizens," Zaev noted.
He referred to several projects implemented by the central government that were equally important for Stip, including minimum salary, free vacation for low-income families, tourism, etc.
"The new government will provide full support to the advancement of the educational process and the standards for students," pledged Zaev adding the government would completely support the development of Goce Delcev University in Stip.
Addressing the forum, SDSM's mayoral hopeful Bocvarski said he intended to reach important decisions for the municipality together with the citizens at open debates.
"I have been urging all the citizens, both party members and those not affiliated with any party, to support me in making Stip the most beautiful city in Macedonia," he said. ba/15:51
