Macedonia's Alagjozovski to attend informal conference of culture ministers in Davos

Macedonia

Skopje, 21 January 2018 (MIA) - Ahead of the World Economic Forum, an informal conference for the ministers of culture from the signatory states of the European Cultural Convention and from the observer states of the Council of Europe is taking place on January 20-21  in Davos, Switzerland.

The meeting will focus on the Davos Declaration, which champions the concept of culture of construction 'Baukultur'.

Macedonia's Culture Minister Robert Alagjozovski is set to address the gathering on Monday and support the 'Baukultur', which he considers should be in the core of spatial planning.

Construction is an eminently cultural act. The quality of the built environment directly influences identity and cultural diversity on one hand and social cohesion and security on the other. A high-quality Baukultur creates a high-quality living environment, maintains the built environment and reinforces social cohesion, the conference's organizer says on its website.

To launch the European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018, Switzerland aims to highlight the importance of Baukultur for European society in general by organising the informal conference.

After the important advancements made with regard to spatial planning and heritage conservation in Europe, it is now vitally important to highlight the role of Baukultur as an essential determining factor with regard to the quality of life from an international perspective and to consolidate the results of the conference by publishing a declaration on Baukultur. lk/16:51
