Skopje, 2 March 2018 (MIA) - To increase the competitiveness of the national economy by improving the capacities of key stakeholders for preparing joint activities to use EU funds is the objective of the project "Stronger Local Businesses for Global Market Challenge", which was launched Friday in Skopje.
The project is implemented as part of the Transition Assistance and Institution Building Component (TAIB), Component 1 (IPA1).
The 18-month project is being implemented from 15 December 2017 to 16 June 2019 by Macedonia's Association for Sustainable Development 'Milieukontakt' in partnership with the Italian agency Ceipiemonte, whose main focus is on attracting foreign investments for their partners, holding training of company managers.
Macedonian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Macedonian civil associations, public institutions and universities are targeted by the project.
Maja Markovska, executive director of Milieukontakt, said that EU-funded programs designed for businesses in Macedonia remained relatively 'unexhausted'.
In addition to direct support and capacity building in enterprises to increase their competitiveness, Milieukontakt as part of the project with its partner from Italy will enable experiences to be shared and partnerships to be concluded.
The project will help small and medium-sized enterprises strengthen capacities to use finances from EU funds, including Horizon 2020, COSME, Erasmus & ENIF Platform.
The project's managers expect it to result in a strong and sustainable partnership between domestic small and medium-sized enterprises and companies in Italy.
The project is estimated at EUR 194,654 with the EU participating with EUR 174,313 and Milieukontakt with EUR 20,341. ba/17:35
