Skopje, 8 March 2018 (MIA) - Upcoming changes to the Law on Abortion was the focal point of Thursday's meeting of Health Minister Venko Filipce and officials of women's organizations that have partnered with the Ministry of Health to create policies advancing the health of mothers and newborn babies.
"The changes introduced several years ago have completely complicated the procedure, many administrative procedures were applied, and we believe that some of them last so long that they can harm the health of women. We want to clarify our position, we want to hear the voice of women and together to find the best option - how to help women who want to abort without any risk to their health," Minister Filipce told reporters before the meeting held on International Women's Day.
We, he said, will look into finding the best possible administrative option for a procedure that can be carried out as quickly as possible without putting women's health into danger.
The minister said that some of the changes included revocation of mandatory counseling of pregnant women who wanted to terminate their pregnancy. ba/15:58
