Skopje, 5 December 2017 (MIA) - Dutch Ambassador to Macedonia Wouter Plomp and Culture Minister Robert Alagjozovski opened late Tuesday the Pride Photo Award exhibition in the National Gallery of Macedonia – Mala Stanica in Skopje.
The exhibition, which showcases the works of art of all recipients of the 2016 Pride Photo Award, is organized by Dutch Embassies in Skopje, Tirana and Pristina and will run until 17 December.
Pride Photo Award is an annual international photo contest focusing on sexual diversity and gender identity. Every year photographers from all over the world share their most imaginative, challenging and non-stereotypical take on gender and sexuality.
In 2016 a good 3,600 entries were submitted by 398 photographers with 70 different nationalities. This exhibition was previously showcased in Amsterdam, Bologna, Jakarta, Hanoi and San Francisco.
'Pride Photo Award contributes to a fairer and more inclusive world by making sexual and gender diversity visible and creating awareness of the 'other'. We believe that all people have the right to freely express their identity whoever and wherever they are. No one should every have to fear for their safety or suffer discrimination on the basis of who they are. Moreover, it is our strong conviction that diversity should be celebrated and regarded as an asset rather than as a threat, to any society, the Embassy of Netherlands in Skopje says in a press release. lk/sk/21:09
