Skopje, 6 October 2017 (MIA) - More than 400 literary works from over 250 Macedonian authors, including 70 titles by authors translated into European languages will be exhibited at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which will be held from 11 to 15 October.
Macedonia’s presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair is organised by the Association of Macedonian Publishers and financially supported by the Ministry of Culture. The representatives of this year’s fair display are Tri Publishing Centre, Ars Lamina publications, Publishing House Kultura AD Skopje and Polica. Macedonian exhibition stand will be placed in the fifth hall for international participants under the motto “The Magic of Macedonian Literature.”
Pieces of Macedonian contemporary literature, Macedonian authors who have already published translations in foreign languages will be presented during the fair, and the focus of the presentation will be the translation of Macedonian literature into foreign languages, President of the Association of Macedonian Publishers Bojan Sazdov said, adding that they will emphasize the quality of Macedonian literature, will attract the interest of foreign publishers and will present the fund of the Ministry of Culture for the translation of Macedonian literature into foreign languages.
A panel themed “Challenges on the road to international affirmation of literature in ‘small languages’” is scheduled to be held at one of the fair’s promotional centres on October 14. Representatives of the Slovenian Book Agency, including one of our most translated authors Lidija Dimkovska, Stefano Bisacchi, literary agent and owner of the Tempi Irregolari Agency and the vice-president of the Georgian Publishers Association are scheduled to take part at the event.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest trade fair for books, based both on the number of publishing companies represented, and the number of visitors. More than 7,300 exhibitors from over 100 countries; around 300,000 visitors and over 10,000 journalists and bloggers are to take part this year. sk/13:42
