Skopje, 9 February 2018 (MIA) - President Gjorge Ivanov received Friday credentials from the new Ambassador of Slovakia to Macedonia, Henrik Markus.
Ivanov voiced satisfaction from the successful development of bilateral relations, which is reflected in many areas of mutual interest, the President's Office said in a press release.
President Ivanov highlighted the enormous significance of Slovakia's support, especially through the Visegrad Group format, which provides specific support to Macedonia's European and Euro-Atlantic perspective.
"Macedonia deserves the start of EU accession talks and an invitation for NATO membership without further delay. We are prepared to contribute to the building of our common future in Europe, spreading our vision for open approach towards partners, based on the commitment of friendship, constructive cooperation, mutual respect and sincere approach in relations," said Ivanov.
Ambassador Markus stressed that both countries have been tied by spiritual and cultural ties since the time of Ss. Cyril and Methodius, adding that Slovakia would invest efforts in helping Macedonia achieve the deserved progress in the near future, reads the press release. ik/16:08
