Vice-Premeir Xhaferi meets German Chancellor's foreign policy advisor

Skopje, 17 July 2014 (MIA) – The Vice Premier for Implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, Musa Xhaferi, held talks Thursday in Berlin with  Christoph Heusgen, the foreign & security policy advisor of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The officials shared opinions on current political developments in Macedonia and the region, including the protests against court ruling in 'Monster' case, as well as the country's Euro-Atlantic integration processes, Xhaferi's Cabinet said in a press release.

Macedonia remains committed to the EU and NATO membership, which sets a solid base for good inter-ethic relations in the country, Xhaferi said.

Heusgen affirmed the German support of Macedonia's accession to the EU and NATO, saying that the name row settlement and inter-ethic relations are among the priorities of the official policy of Chancellor Merkel. She has presented the positions of official Berlin in numerous occasions, such as the Summit in Dubrovnik and meetings in Brussels.  Germany has been making efforts for creating a favourable climate for Skopje-Athens dialogue that should open Macedonia's road to the EU and NATO, Heusgen said.

Xhaferi is also scheduled to meet Markus Ederer, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, and  Konrad Adenauer Foundation Chair Hans-Gert Pottering. lk/20:05
