Skopje, 7 December 2017 (MIA) - Trial in the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPO) case "Centar Violence" will resume on December 18, said judge Tatjana Mihajlova at Thursday's hearing.
Witness Andrej Zernovski, the mayor of Centar municipality at the time of the incident, said the protests in front of the municipal building on 13 June 2013 caused a feeling of fear and insecurity and prevented the council members to get out of the facility.
"Our lives were in jeopardy. The communication between the VMRO-DPMNE council members, the Ministry of Interior and protesters was obvious", said Zernovski.
He told the court that EU ambassadors and OSCE representatives came to his office and urged protesters to disperse through their own channels.
"I am convinced that the incidents would have continued if they had not been there", stressed Zernovski.
VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski, former minister of transport and communications Mile Janakievski and VMRO-DPMNE MP Daniela Rangelova, all defendants in the case, were present at the hearing.
Two other defendants have pleaded guilty and received suspended sentences. Another 12 individuals are charged with inciting violence during the protests.
Wiretapped conversations can be used as evidence in the case. ik/13:31
