President Ivanov meets FIESP chair Skaf in Brazil

Skopje, 11 December 2017 (MIA) - Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov kicked off Monday his visit to  Brazil by a meeting with the Chairman of Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP), Paulo Skaf.

Ivanov and Skaf shared opinions about overall Macedonia-Brazil relations and possibilities for cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest, in particular the economic one, the President's Office said in a press release.

Macedonia wishes to advance its relations with Brazil - the largest country in South America; BRIKS and G20 member, the fastest-growing major economy in the world and the EU's strategic partner.

Opening of a resident embassy in Brasilia demonstrates Macedonia's interest in boosting the cooperation with Brazil, Ivanov said.

Skaf awarded Ivanov with a Medal of Industrial Merit, a prestigious recognition  FIESP bestows in recognition of outstanding efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and industrial development.

Tomorrow Ivanov is set to meet his Brazilian counterpart Michel Temer, attend the formal opening of Macedonia's Embassy to capital Brasilia, the first resident embassy in the Latin American country. lk/15:57
