Germany reaffirms support of Macedonia's bid to join EU, NATO

Germany reaffirms support of Macedonia

Berlin, 11 December 2017 (MIA) - Berlin commends Macedonia's reform progress and the government's policy for reviving the country's EU-integration process, Germany's Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth said Monday at a meeting with Macedonia's Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

We wish for Macedonia to be a successful story in 2018 as well, Roth said.

Germany, he said, supports Macedonia's efforts to implement the European priorities and its commitment to join the European Union and NATO. I am glad to see better regional cooperation and substantial domestic reforms in Macedonia, Roth said, pointing out that EU's door remained open for the country.

Roth and Dimitrov voiced satisfaction with the good bilateral relations and the new dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Dimitrov briefed Roth about the pace of implementing the reforms for Macedonia to meet the necessary criteria for opening the EU accession talks and NATO membership.

During a visit to Germany, Dimitrov took part in the workshop 'Dialogue Series: Imaging New Paths for a Prosperous Macedonia; Euro-Atlantic Integration of Macedonia', organized by the Berghof Foundation in Potsdam. lk/16:44
