Skopje, 18 January 2018 (MIA) - Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi welcomed Thursday a delegation of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), led by President Ahmed Bin Mohammad Al-Jarwan.
At the meeting, Al-Jarwan presented the organization, its founders and goals, underlying the need of promoting the culture of peace and tolerance. In this respect GCTP intends to set up and a Global Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, Al-Jarwan said and invited Macedonia's supreme legislative body to join in.
Macedonia is an example of a multi-ethnic society that nourishes the principles of peace, tolerance and mutual respect, Xhaferi said, adding that the Parliament would consider the GCTP invitation with utmost attention, the Speaker's Office said in a press release.
Prompted by increased threats of extremism, racial intolerance, and intellectual violence, the international organization GCTP was launched in November 2017. The idea of GCTP began as a window or an international platform dedicated for tolerance and spreading peace and noble human objectives. lk/19:51
