Skopje, 21 May 2018 (MIA) - Stimulation and financial support to social innovations is the new programme of the Fund for Innovation and Technology Development, said director Jovan Despotovski at Monday's opening of the first Goodbiz Bootcamp Skopje: Business and Impact Model Validation".
"Social innovations are a global trend and we want Macedonia to join. The idea is to reach a specific, practical solution to social challenges through innovation. We are supported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy in this segment," said Despotovski, adding that 15 start-ups would commit to social innovations in the coming period.
The fund and the ministry will work on skill building of start-ups operating in the field of social innovations, adding a separate programme for funding and granting projects might be developed.
Minister of Labor and Social Policy Mila Carovska said the Government is trying to incorporate the social component into the operational employment measures.
"The state does not have developed social services. It is not only important to transfer a large amount of money to the citizens, but to create conditions and support through services, so that people come out of a certain social risk. The system would benefit if the business sector and the civil society organizations created services and the state paid for them," elaborated Carovska. ik/12:36
