Skopje, 19 June 2018 (MIA) - Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Tuesday a delegation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), led by UNOPS's Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, Grete Faremo.
The interlocutors welcomed the signing of the agreement settling the Macedonia-Greece name issue and for strategic partnership saying it was beneficial not only for the two countries, but also for the region, the government's press service said.
Saying she was proud of having to meet with the Macedonian Premier in historic times, the UNOPS Executive Director conveyed the UN's strong support and the UNOPS's backing to Macedonia on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Faremo said that she was especially pleased for having exchanged letters with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the opening of UNOPS Office in Skopje. The move will increase cooperation to provide services in sustainable infrastructure, sustainable procurement and sustainable project management, including construction of schools, roads, bridges and hospitals, as well as procurement of goods and training of local staff.
Furthermore, PM Zaev underlined the UNOPS's role as an important partner for the development of Macedonia in supporting projects in infrastructure, procurement, financial management and human resources.
PM Zaev and the UNOPS official concurred that of exceptional importance was the implementation of the Youth Guarantee project, as a measure to increase youth employment especially in rural areas, stated the press release. ba/15:28
