Skopje, 19 June 2018 (MIA) - Following the Bulgaria Friendship Treaty, we have reached a dignified agreement with Greece and closed the last issue standing in the way of Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev at Tuesday's meeting with a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The PACE delegation, led by co-rapporteurs Lise Christoffersen and Valeriu Ghiletchi, is visiting Macedonia for a post-monitoring dialogue with the country.
"Citizens will have the final say at a referendum, but I expect everyone to stand behind Macedonia's development, moving the country forward," said PM Zaev.
According to him, a date for the start of EU accession talks will represent an additional incentive in the Government's energetic reform approach, also involving other social and political stakeholders.
The meeting also tackled judiciary reforms, observance of laws, democracy and human rights, amendments to the Electoral Code, as well as the required maturity by all political stakeholders to make decisions in the interest of Macedonia's perspectives and stability, the Government said in a press release.
The PACE officials expressed their support to Macedonia's Euro-integration processes and the country's progress.
"Macedonia is on the right path of achieving its strategic objectives of EU and NATO integration, accompanied by a better life of its citizens. We are committed to implementing the required reforms in the country through inclusive policies and good neighborly relations," added Zaev. ik/15:40
