Skopje, 9 February 2018 (MIA) - The Ministry of Local Self-Government has issued the second public call for projects involving cross-border cooperation between Macedonia and Bulgaria for which EUR 7 million are put at a disposal for all potential applicants, Suhejl Fazliu told a news conference on Friday.
The Minister of Local Self-Government said the funds provided through the cross-border co-operation component of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) were intended for projects on two sides of the border.
According to him, the amount of funds to be allocated to applicants in Macedonia would depend on the number of approved projects.
"The general objective of the cross-border cooperation programme is to strengthen cooperation between the people and the institutions across the borders. The government through the budget of the Ministry of Local Self-Government will provide co-financing," stated Fazliu.
The Minister said that municipalities, NGOs, business organizations, educational, scientific, cultural and other non-profit organizations and institutions were invited to apply at the call.
"The project should involve protection of the environment, tourism, ways to improve competitiveness of regional businesses. The deadline for submitting proposals expires on 11 May 2018," elaborated Fazliu.
