Skopje, 9 February 2018 (MIA) - The Ministry of Transport and Communications, Macedonian Energy Resources (MER) and local authorities will try to find ways for more active involvement of municipalities in overcoming property issues and acceleration of the gas distribution process.
Minister of Transport and Communications Goran Sugareski said before Friday's meeting with mayors that the objective is to distribute gas to all municipalities and households.
"I expect solutions from today's meeting in order to accelerate the gas distribution process. Gas distribution is the Government's main promise and that is why the 2018 budget allocates EUR 40 million for construction of the gas distribution system in Macedonia," said Sugareski.
MER director Blagojce Koteski said gas distribution can be successful only if all stakeholders are actively involved in the process.
"We will not allow for situations similar to the one of Kriva Palanka, a municipality where the national gas pipeline is passing through, but the area has not been connected to the system for 20 years now," stressed Koteski.
This year's budget funds are expected to cover the construction of 80km of the gas pipeline. ik/16:24
