Washington, 7 December 2017 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi during his US visit held separate meetings with Congressmen Robert Pittenger, Robert Aderholt and David Trott.
The Congressman Pittenger, who hosts Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum, underlined that he is honoured that Xhaferi accepted the invitation to attend this important gathering, which is a continuation of the forum in June 2017 in Riga. In this context, Xhaferi briefed Pittenger on legal changes that sanction the participation of our citizens in foreign military formations, Parliament Speaker’s Office said in a press release.
Interlocutors underlined that the United States and the Republic of Macedonia are on the same side in the fight against terrorism in the world. The rule of law, freedom of speech and the independence of institutions are a fundamental foundation for building a healthy democratic society integrated into NATO and the EU, reads the press release.
During the meeting with Congressman Aderholt, who is the member of Congress to join the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans (Macedonia Caucus), showed interest about general political discourse followed the transfer of power. Xhaferi presented the overall situation and Macedonia’s priorities in regard to fulfilling the necessary reform processes.
Xhaferi also met with the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans, Congressman Dave Trott, who has recently visit Macedonia during his European tour.
Trott said that Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans will continue to provide support in regard to Macedonia's membership in NATO. sk/11:06
