Grubi expects US help in resolving name dispute with Greece

Skopje, 8 February 2018 (MIA) - The MP and Chairman of Parliament’s Committee on European Affairs Artan Grubi met in White House in Washington with Molly Montgomery, special adviser for Europe, Eurasia and Russia in the Office of US Vice President Mike Pence and discussed the political situation in Macedonia and the challenges related to the reforms and country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

Grubi thanked for the US strategic partnership and support to Macedonia throughout all years and expressed belief that this support will continue even in these crucial times, Committee on European Affairs said in a press release.

Montgomery said that the United States supports Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, dialogue with neighbours and the reform agenda, which should enable rule of law, democratic governance and credible institutions.

She underlined that there is optimism in the White House regarding the positive news coming from Macedonia and emphasized the moment a huge opportunity for the realisation of common goals.

“Reforms, fulfillment of all expectations from Brussels, Ohrid Agreement and good neighbourly relations are on a good way to be fully completed. But, we still have a dispute with our southern neighbour, for which we expect to receive direct help from the United States aimed at finding a dignified solution,” Grubi said.

At the meeting, Grubi extended an invitation to the US Vice President Mike Pence to visit Macedonia soon. sk/11:21
