Skopje, 5 February 2018 (MIA) - Domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should apply more frequently to participate in EU-funded projects considering the capacity and interest shown by foreign companies to cooperate with them.
This was stressed Monday by the Enterprise Europe Network-Macedonia (EEN), which is part of the largest network for support to SMEs as part of the EU programmes COSME and Horizon, conceived to offer help to companies to exhaust the opportunities presented on the European market.
EEN Macedonia data show that ICT companies have registered the highest level of interest and success.
Viktor Stojmanovski, EEN Macedonia project manager, said he hoped this year there would be a direct benefit from the SME Support Instrument.
"Examining the whole network, what has been reported, the level of success is five percent. Island tops the list as having made the best result with 13%. Macedonian small and medium-sized enterprises should be applying more. Hopefully, this year there will be a direct benefit from the SMEs Instrument," Stojmanovski told a news conference.
In the past couple of years, 137 companies from abroad have shown interest for cooperation with Macedonian companies. Also, 36 partnerships have been concluded that include business contracts, partnership or agreement for participation in a EU-funded project.
5,000 companies have been provided with digital services from the EEN. "It is a solid figure of companies that are ready to be internationalized. If Macedonia has 1,000 companies that have the capacities to stand shoulder to shoulder in terms of innovation with the ones in Europe, then it is a solid number," said Stojmanovski.
The Enterprise Europe Network includes 600 partner organizations and over 3,000 experts. 52,000 SMEs, on the average, get advice on daily basis from experts from the network on how to advance their innovative spirit, growth and international standing. ba/13:34
