Skopje, 8 February 2018 (MIA) - Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupco Nikolovski took part Thursday at a workshop in Ohrid on implementation of the IPARD programmes, attended by representatives of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG Agri) and the Standing Working Group for Regional Rural Development (SWG RRD), as well as regional payment agencies.
Representatives of the payment agencies of Croatia, Turkey, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania and Kosovo presented their experiences in the use of European funds, problems they face, but also proposals towards more efficient use of IPARD programmes, the agriculture ministry said in a press release.
Minister Nikolovski referred to Macedonia's experiences in the use of European funds, saying the shortcomings have been detected in order to prevent the repetition of the same mistakes for IPARD II.
"More than 1,600 applications requiring over EUR 55 million for co-funding have been submitted, while the entire IPARD programme 2014-2020 is worth EUR 60 million. Now we have to process all applications and sign agreements with beneficiaries," said Nikolovski.
Programme IPARD 2007-2013 (IPARD I) has been completed with 1,052 applications worth EUR 16 million approved.
Nikolovski stressed the Government will continually undertake measures supporting the increased use of funds.
In addition, he noted that the Payment Agency capacities would be enhanced for the purpose of more efficient contracting and payment of beneficiaries, reads the press release. ik/19:24
