Skopje, 26 October 2017 (MIA) - Prime Minister Zoran Zaev had a meeting Thursday with Rabbi Andrew Baker, Director of International Jewish Affairs at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), who commended the commitment of Macedonia's new government to care for all communities in the country, including the Jewish.
'Rabbi Baker expressed special gratitude for PM Zaev's initiative a commemoration event to be organized next year in honor of the 75th anniversary of the deportation of Jews from Macedonia, namely on 11 March 2018 - the Day of Deportation of the Jews from Macedonia. Rabbi Baker also offered assistance for the event's promotion,' the government said in a press release.
The Jewish community is a significant part of the Macedonia's tradition, history, present and future and the government is proud of its activities to protect all ethnic communities in the country, Zaev said.
Vast majority of citizens, he said, have voiced support for the concept one society for all and the government shall keep building Macedonia accordingly. lk/17:48
