Skopje, 16 February 2018 (MIA) - The Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation opens new perspective for cooperation between the two countries, Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev said after a meeting with Macedonia's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
Zaev and Radev affirmed the commitment of both countries to boost the economic cooperation and trade exchange, paying special attention to the construction of the Corridor VIII and realization of energy projects, the government said in a press release.
Bulgaria, Radev said, is a staunch supporter of Macedonia's accession to the European Union and NATO.
'I wish to extend gratitude to Premier Zaev as thanking to his courage the friendship treaty has been signed after many years. The document offers encouragement that the Western Balkan priorities may turn into reality,' Radev told reporters after the meeting.
The treaty has been already yielding the first results, Zaev said referring to signing of numerous bilateral agreements on cooperation.
PM Zaev expressed hope for Macedonia's EU accession talks to be launched in the course of Bulgaria's Presidency, considering the fact that 'our country is strongly committed to the reform processes and good relations with all neighbors,' Zaev said. lk/19:25
