PM Zaev again calls opposition to share responsibility for Macedonia’s EU, NATO perspective

PM Zaev again calls opposition to share responsibility for Macedonia’s EU, NATO perspective

Skopje, 12 October 2018 (MIA) - At Friday’s session of the Parliament's Committee on Constitutional Issues regarding the Government's motion for constitutional revision arising from the Prespa Agreement, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev once again called on the MPs of opposition VMRO-DPMNE to back the procedure as Macedonia’s future is at stake.

Everything has been said but the question is are we able to reach consensus on Macedonia’s bid for EU, NATO membership – the only matter that unites the country, Zaev said.

‘The question is what we shall do with our aspirations for EU, NATO if we miss this opportunity,’ Zaev said.

Earlier today Deputy Speaker Goran Misovski, representative of the ruling coalition, also called on opposition VMRO-DPMNE MPs at the plenary session on Monday to support the constitutional amendments stemming from the Prespa Agreement and join forces in providing European future to citizens of Macedonia.

‘I don’t wish to believe that VMRO-DPMNE deputies would not vote for the constitutional amendments on Monday,’ Misovski said, pointing out the significance of the move for Macedonia’s integration with the Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The motion for initiating constitutional amendments is in favor of the country’s future within the EU and NATO with strengthened Macedonian identity that is to be finally recognized worldwide, Misovski said. lk/17:43
