Mancevski: Digital Summit conclusions in EU agenda

Skopje, 17 May 2018 (MIA) - Conclusions of last month's first Western Balkans Digital Summit that took place in Skopje are already part of the EU agenda, in the context of the enhancement of the digital transformation in regional countries, said Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Mancevski on Thursday.

"Commissioner Johannes Hahn has said that initiatives within the digital agenda and increased networking in the region are to be funded by more than EUR 200 million. These measures include cutting of roaming costs, improvement of broadband internet, development of e-government and digitization of industry," said Mancevski told the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia.

According to him, this is a strong confirmation that activities undertaken by the Ministry of Information Society and Administration and the Government regarding digitization in Macedonia are supported by the EU.

"We can achieve transformation and networking of the region only through regional cooperation. This is the only way leading to the Union," added Mancevski.

He stressed that digitization and professionalism of the administration will result in institutions working in their interest. ik/12:53
