Skopje, 16 May 2018 (MIA) – The exhibition Before and After Capa: War Photos of Hungarian photographers 100 years ago and today will open at the Skopje City Museum on Wednesday at 7 pm.
The exhibition features photos by one of the most distinguished war photographers of Hungarian descent, Robert Capa, as well as the work of other Hungarian war photographers from the time before and after him, i.e., the beginning of the 20th and 21st century.
"The exhibition aims to understand what changed," the organizers write, "in the means by which war photographers worked in the course of a century.
"Images of the first war widely documented by photography, WW1, are presented with the support of the Fortepan digital archive. Today's armed conflicts are shown through the lens of István Bielik (in Syria), Sándor Csudai (in Ukraine), Veronika Dévényi (in Afghanistan), and Gyula Sopronyi (in Libya)."
Photos that war correspondent Urai Dezső took in Macedonia during WW1 will be shown in Skopje for the first time.
The exhibit, supported by the Embassy of Hungary in Skopje, will run through May 29. mr/13:35
