Skopje, 7 June 2018 (MIA) – Representatives of the civic society, culture and politics from several European countries in an open exchange of ideas - ‘Debate on Europe’ - will pose and explore questions about the possible impact of ‘Art and Culture in Changing Times’ for the next two days in Macedonia’s capital Skopje.
The event is part of the series ‘Debates on Europe”, organised by the S. Fischer Foundation, the Allianz Cultural Foundation, and the German Academy for Language and Literature in different cities across the continent since 2012.
German Ambassador to Macedonia Thomas Gerberich said the culture itself could contribute substantially to the process for reform implementation.
‘The Macedonian society is amid thorough process of reconstruction in terms of economy, politics, culture etc. We must acknowledge that these reforms are difficult and not always popular, but they are in the best interest of the country and its citizens,’ Gerberich said.
S. Fischer Foundation representative Antje Contius congratulated Robert Alagjozovski on the realization of two initiatives during his mandate as a Minister of Culture– Macedonia’s accession to the European network for literature and books TRADUKI and Skopje’s role of host of the Debate on Europe.
Artan Sadiku, Robert Alagjozovski and Sreten Ugricic took part in today’s panel, dubbed ‘In between: Art and Culture in Changing Times, followed by a short concert of Macedonian guitar wizard Vlatko Stefanovski.
Thus far Budapest, Bucharest, Athens, Belgrade, Berlin, Narva, Minsk, Kharkiv, St. Petersburg, and Sarajevo have been hosts of the Debates on Europe. lk/20:41
