Skopje, 12 June 2018 (MIA) – Igor Stanojoski has won this year's Racin Award for his novel Dyssomnias, published by Antolog.
The jury, headed by Luan Starova and including Venko Andonovski and Hristo Petreski, unanimously chose the winner, also deciding to award an honorary Racin Award to Dijana Vlatković and Borjana Prošev-Oliver from Croatia for their work on the Croatian-Macedonian Dictionary.
The Anthology of Pain award for the best love poetry debut will be given to Emilija Karanfilovska for her work I Built a Home in Your Glance.
Award winners were announced Tuesday, a day before the official start of the 55th edition of the Racin Meetings literary festival in Veles.
At the press conference, organizers said this year would mark the 110th anniversary of Koco Racin's birth and the 75th anniversary of his tragic death.
Racin is one of Macedonia's most famous poets, and his White Dawns poetry collection has been recognized as one of the central works of Macedonian literature.
This year's festival will start on Wednesday with a visit of the monument at Lopushnik, where the poet lost his life in 1943.
Several events will follow over the next few days, including book launches, poetry readings, a concert, an art exhibition, and an international conference on Racin and the Macedonian language.
The festival will run through June 15. The awards will be given during the closing ceremony at the Veles theater Friday evening. mr/15:27
